Make fruits & vegetables part of every meal and snack! The Canada Food Guide recommends that kids eat at least five servings of vegetables and fruit every day, but most children are not meeting this goal. Produce is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, fiber and nutrients which provides kids with the overall energy they need to be physically active! Veggies & fruit are essential to kid’s health and are a great choice to satisfy hunger at any time of the day!

Ontarians have been eating fewer vegetables and fruit in recent years. In 2003, 42% of Ontarians age 12 and up ate a least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day. By 2014, that number had dropped to 38%. As kids enter adolescence, they are even less likely to meet the daily recommended servings. It’s very important to establish good habits early on, as kids who eat fruits and vegetables as toddlers are much more likely to do so later in childhood.
